It's the first of the month which means there is a new Clean and Simple challenge up on the Make it Crafty blog.
This time around it's bright colors.
Are they speaking my language or what?!
I used the new Fairy Butterfly Blythe from the Butterfly Fairies collection. They are all stunning but I just adored the way she looks like she is blowing a kiss. Plus, those stockings are just rockin :)
I colored her with my Copic markers but truly I had no idea where I was going when I started. Ever happen to you? I started with B32, B24, B26, and B28. Then I decided to add in some blue greens with BG11 and BG15. I still felt like it wasn't bright enough so in came YG01 and YG03. Then Pow! Super bright!
I almost always color things (flowers/people/animals) in traditional colors so for this challenge I thought it would be fun to go wild. I used RV 02, RV04, RV09, and a tiny bit of RV69 for her hair. That rocketed us up the brightness chart for sure. I wasn't sure what to do with the background so I attempted a softer watercolor look. I'm actually pretty happy with it. What do you think?
I used RV00, RV10, V000, V01, B000, B00, BG000, and BG11 working from the pink at the bottom to the blue green at the top.
I outlined the entire image and then added some white gel pen details to both her wings and the background. I added a few very light spritzes of WPlus9's shimmer spray over the whole thing for some shine. Some Wink of Stella on the wings and a few Pretty Pink Posh Clear sequins added even more. The sentiment is from Newton's Nook Magical Dreams set.
I hope you head over to the Make It Crafty blog to play along. You've got all month :)
Thanks for stopping by!
