Zentangle Flowers: One Layer

 Hello Crafters!

How was your St. Patty's day?
Hopefully all you leprechauns who went and about made it home safely :)

I spent the night in with the family and then got to crafting.

So this card is a little different but I am in head over heels googley eyed love with it. It's been a pretty long time since I enjoyed making a card as much as I did this one.
Alright let's start at the beginning.

I have a crafty friend, actually I have many who are fabulous and wonderful, but this one in particular has been on my mind lately. She's so sweet and encouraging. She pops in with the random text or encouraging comment fo no other reason than she is a doll. For these reasons I wanted to make a card especially for her. Using a lot of he things she taught me.

I saw the sketch for CAS(E) this Sketch earlier in the week and I knew I wanted to do a one layer card with it. Because when don't I want to do a one layer card right? Plus flowers. Duh.

I've got the layout all set. I started playing around with some flower stamps and color combos but nothing felt right. Another day passes. I see the One Layer Card Challenge in the Simon Says Stamp Flickr group. Now I'm going to be honest I don't have a ton of SSS stamps. I really like mot of their stuff but there is usually so much being released that I can only pick up one or two things due to the husband says were too broke to buy stamps rule. Sometimes, I break that rule then I cross my fingers that he doesn't look too hard at the bills. Kidding . . .kind of. Anyway, most of the sets I have from SSS are flowers so I started pawing through my meager stash. I came across the Whimsical Flowers set. The flowers in that set are wide open and all I could think was this card is going to be like watching paint dry.
Enter crafty community to save the day. Dun, dun DUN!

I watched this video by sandy Allnock where she drew her own patterned paper. I had no desire to draw patterned paper but I do enjoy a good zentangle session to pass the time. AND I was going to color which allowed me to keep up with Kathy's 30 day color challenge.  3 birds one stone. I know that's not how the saying goes . . .just go with it.

Eeek! It was so fun to stamp and mask and then doodle. I must have stamped 10 flowers on scrap paper trying to figure out what I was going to do. Once I had everything done I was pretty much pee my pants terrified to color it. I had never colored them before. What if it detracted from the design instead of adding to it?! Thankfully, I was supes stoked with the way it turned out. Yay fun card making!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

XoXo
