Play Date Cafe Challenge 59
Tonight's card is another OWH valentine :) This time the colors were inspired by The Play Date Cafe. This is the inspiration photo
and my entry
and my entry
The patterned paper is from DCWV Summer Dream stack. I cut out the main panel with my nesties labels 8 then rubbed on some faded jeans distress ink, really lightly. I also edged it with faded jeans but when first to pad so it would extra dark. The hearts and love stamps are from Hampton Arts Wedding set. I stamped the polka dot heart in faded jeans and the bubbly one in dusty concord then cut them out. I also added glossy accents to the polka dot one just for some texture. the "you" I hand wrote . . .kwerneresqe :) For the border I used EK Success apron lace (I swear it's not the only punch I own, it just seems to be the only I use hehe) I adhered the hearts with foam. One layer for the big one, two layers for the little one!
Happy Tuesday to you!!

Quick post
on a surprise pop up card :)
I'll be back with the rundown in a little bit. My DVR is taping two things at once and my poor Hubby has nothing to watch lol
Okay back with the rundown. The papers are from DCWV The Christmas Ultimate stack (it's a year or two old). The little birdie is from Hero Arts Jolly Christmas set colored in with my marvy markers, the sentiment is from this set too. I followed the tutorial from splitcoast stampers here. I'm really into trying different cards lately hehe This card/tag is for my best friend's gift :)
This card is being entered into Papertake Weekly Christmas card with no red or green,Simon Says Stamp Christmas card with no red or green, OTWC Light Pink, Dark Pink, White, and A Spoon Full of Sugar Christmas card challenge ( I know it looks red but it's really Dark Pink promise ;)

I'm in hibernation
but at least it gives me time to craft! We are getting snowed in here in Ohio. It started around 1:00 today and is supposed to keep going until Tuesday night, eek! I hate driving in snow so I'm hibernating until it's over lol.
Tonight's card is going to OWH. I used the sketch from this week to get my card started. Then I used the colors from The Pink Elephant's color challenge: Blue, Green & Red. I know the colors would have made a lovely Christmas card but I am a little behind on my goal for the Valentine cards for OWH. Plus, I just got this cute stamp in the mail and thought it made a perfect Valentine image, hehe! I"m also entering it into ABC Challenge J is for Jewels.

I started but cutting my labels from nesties Labels 4 in white card stock. I used my stampamajig to get the placement correct on the label then stamped in jet back archival ink. I pulled out some colors from my DCWV Citrus stack ( I am really loving these papers lately) and stamped the umbrella three times. Once on red, blue, and green. I used those to paper piece the umbrella. For the couple I colored them with distress ink and a H20 pen: broken china, black soot, crushed olive, and barn door. My pen was a little too wet so it bled a little but what are you gonna do? :) I rubbed some tumbled glass over the edges of the label and then inked them again direct to pad with broken china. For the gemstones I just used permanent marker to color clear rhinestones so they matched. The bejeweled umbrella reminds me of a carnival, not necessarily Valentines but fun nonetheless! I adhered all my layers to a white card base except the image panel. i adhered it with foam.
Thanks for stopping by, hopefully I'll have a few more posts tomorrow since I'm stuck in the house!!

Happy Birthday to you . . .
Happy Birthday Dear Jacob! My nephew's birthday is next week and since my sister and her family live in Tennessee I needed to get his card done. I decided to use the sketch over at Simon Says Challenge, such fun is always happening over there!
Since I have been trying to try new things this is my first attempt at a recessed window card. I turned the sketch on it's side and made the rectangle a little bigger.
Time for the rundown.
My nephew loves all things war and planes, so for my colors I looked up the actual colors used on the Spearman Biplane in World War II and based the rest of the card after it. All the stamps used for this project are from the Prickly Pear set Hot Air Balloons, except for the sentiment which is Hero Arts. The pattern paper is DCWV Citrus stack. I scored and cut my window on a white card stock base. On another piece of white card stock I stamped the plane, clouds, and banner. I colored the plane in the correct colors and outlined the clouds with a light blue marker. I cut out and adhered my pattern paper. Since I knew I wanted the banner to come out of the window I adhered my plane with two layers of foam instead of one. After it was supposed to be "done" it still needed something. I added the blue frame and covered it in glossy accents for some shine and more dimension. Much better :)
I hope this inspired you to try a different kind of card!

Papertake Weekly Challenge
Happy Monday to you! It is snowing like crazy here and it's not supposed to stop until Sunday! yuck!! On the upside my hubby got to play with his snow blower and that's always fun for him :)
Tonight's card is for the Papertake Weekly Challenge. This week it's a sketch
So one of the DT's for Papertake is Marja and her card so inspired me. The card she made is just fabulous and I love that it's decorated inside too :) If you have the time go check it out!
Today is my friend Angie's birthday so I decided to make her a card with this sketch. It is my first easel card and i was shocked at how easy it was to put together!
For instructions on putting together an easel card splitcoaststampers has a great tutorial here.
For the front of the card I started with white card stock then rubbed on some tumbled glass. I inked up my Unity distressed dots background with chipped sapphire and stamped it over the tumbled glass. Next I cut a piece of Bazzil card stock in Slipper (pink) to 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 and rubbed on some worn lipstick to get more of the color I wanted. I mounted it on a piece of white card stock cut a 1/4" bigger and rounded both their corners. I used nesties labels 4 for the inside panels. For the bigger one I left it in the die and inked with tumbled glass. The images and sentiment are from Hero Arts set Cupcakes. I stamped the cupcakes and candle on another piece of white. I colored with distress inks: worn lipstick, chipped sapphire, wild honey, spiced marmalade and tumbled glass, then cut them out. For the cupcake holder I used a silver gel pen and then covered them in Glossy Accents. I added some stickles to all the cupcakes in stardust. For the label holding the image and sentiment I outlined with Waterfall stickles. For the inside I inked a piece of white card stock with chipped sapphire and punched the edge with EK Success Apron Lace. Cut another piece of Slipper and rubbed it with more Worn Lipstick. The ribbon is from my stash ( I think I bought it at Target in the $1 bin) and all the cupcakes were adhered with foam.
Off to watch TV with the Hubs, hoping the snow stops soon!
Thanks for visiting!

Cupcake Craft Light it up
This card is for Cupcake Craft Light it Up Challenge. You had to use a candle somewhere on your project. I immediately thought of this cutie by Penny Black
I created the frame with my nestabilities. I inked them with barn door distress ink and stamped the polka dots in it as well. I stamped the image on white card stock and colored it with black soot, crushed olive, peeled paint, barn door, antique linen, wild honey and spiced marmalade. I used glossy accents on the lantern and stardust stickles for the snow, which you totally can't see it in the photo :( The paper is some more of the old DCWV. I punched with EK Success Apron lace and inked that with barn door too. The button is basic grey. I adhered my frame with foam, wrapped around some embroidery floss and adhered my button.
I'm off to Christmas shop, Have a Blessed Sunday!

Hero Arts and ABC Challenge I is for Ice/Snow
I had sometime before heading out to Christmas shop to make some cards :) This card is for ABC Challenge I is for Ice/Snow and Hero Arts monthly contest, add some shine. Believe me this card has lots of shine lol. I loved how my Pumpkin Wreath turned out last month so I decided to try it again, if it's not broke don't fix it right?
and the snowflakes
I started with white card stock and stamped the big snowflake from Hero Arts Magic of Christmas set. for the white snowflakes I stamped in versa mark and embossed with white. For the other big snowflakes I stamped with distress ink in worn lipstick, broken china, chipped sapphire, and dusty concord then embossed with clear. I rubbed on some tumbled glass for the background then inked up Hero Arts Magical Background with more tumbled glass and stamped. I buffed off the extra ink on top of the snowflakes. On another sheet of white card stock I stamped the medium snowflake from Magic of Christmas and cut them out. I adhered the little snow flakes with foam. I covered the little snowflakes with stardust stickles and then topped them with a clear rhinestone. For the sentiment I used another Hero Arts set Sending Holiday Cheer. I stamped in chipped sapphire and clear embossed. I cut the sentiment into a banner, inked the edges with more chipped sapphire, and added two clear rhinestones. The bow I made with my bow easy adhered with a glue dot.

Paper Sundaes Adorn Those Corners challenge
I hope everyone is having a fabulous Saturday :) It's snowing here so we stayed in today. I cleaned out craft room (okay reorganized) while my hubby was working on the downstairs, hopefully someday soon we will actually have a downstairs to use!
Today's card is for Paper Sundaes Adorn Those Corners challenge
I started with a corner stamp, stamped on white card stock in versa mark and embossed with white embossing powder. I love how the "frame" came out. I stamped the super cute mice kissing image in ranger jet black archival. I rubbed on tumbled glass distress ink for the sky and a little crushed olive for the grass. The image was colored with distress inks and a H20 pen. I used faded jeans, black soot, dusty concord, worn lipstick, crushed olive, peeled paint, and spiced marmalade. I stamped the sentiment, cut a little banner, and inked the edges with tumbled glass. Finished it off my adding stardust stickles to the heart and edge of the banner. The hubby and I are eating chinese and putting the tree up. I love Saturdays off work :)
Goodnight!

The Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge
and one more :)
I wasn't sure if I would have time to get it done or not. I'm so glad I did because I love sketch challenges and The Sweet Stop always has awesome sketches!
Here is this weeks sketch
and my card

Here is this weeks sketch
and my card
I just got my cyber Monday order in from I {Heart} Papers and it included this adorable image from Penny Johnson called Love Bubbles. Anytime I do a sketch challenge I try to make a card for OWH. It allows me to have fun by challenging myself and accomplish something for the greater good :)
There are a lot of layers on this card. When I was putting together my valentine blog candy I picked up some goodies for myself too. The heart pattern paper (which you can hardly see) is from K&Company. The purple, pink and blue card stock is all Bazzill. The stamped distress heart background (another just arrived stamp) is Unity stamped in dusty concord distress ink. I colored the image with dusty concord, stormy sky, brushed corduroy, black soot, and spun sugar. Added some stickles and glossy accents to finish.
Now I'm done with posts tonight I promise ;)

Sweet Stampin Challenge
I have been loving Kristina Werner's 25 days of Christmas cards. She has inspired me to use my pattern paper. Again a different card for me but I think it's good to push your boundaries. This card is for Sweet Stampin Challenge Buttons and Bows.
I stamped Unity's distressed dots background in versa mark and clear embossed. Then used nestabilities labels 4 to cut out the window. I outlined it with a white gel pen. The patterned paper is from DCWV the ultimate Christmas stack, I bought it a few years ago. The buttons are basic grey.
I may be back with one more we'll see how it goes :)

Another Wee Memories Entry
A while ago Kristina Werner posted a card on using up your ribbon scraps. So when I saw the Wee Memories challenge I knew I wanted to do something similar. I haven't had the time to go back and find the link to the card she made but I will try to get it sometime tonight.
I stamped the ornament from Hero Arts Magic of Christmas and cut around it with my exacto knife for the ornament shape and then used my ribbon scraps to fill in the ornament. The background is just stamped with versa mark, it's also from Hero Arts, called Magical background. One more Hero Arts stamp :) the sentiment is from Sending Holiday Cheer. Some red ribbon and white gel pen later we're done!

Stampin Sisters in Christ and Wee Memories Challenge
Happy Friday!! I had today off so I got to do a lot of crafting, yay!! This card is for the Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge to make a card of encouragement or congratulations. The Wee Memories challenge is to use ribbon, which i have no problem doing lol. So here's the card
It's a pretty simple card, just some white embossing, nestabilities and ribbon. Oh and of course distress ink, I rarely make a card without it :) I used stormy sky for this one.
Thanks for stopping by I'll be back with some more posts before the nights out

I colored the flower with distress ink. I mixed dusty concord and fired brick to get my cranberry color. I did the ribbon the same way. I'm really happy with the way it came out :)

Playing at Off The Wall Craftiness again this week. Here are the fabulous inspiration colors
and here is my first entry
The ribbon looks brown in the photo but it's a dark cranberry in real life. A very different card for me but I kinda like it :)
