The challenge was to use yellow, brown and white. This really was a challenge for me since I wouldn't normally use these colors together. This is the inspiration photo Kim provided.
I decided to use Hero arts Artists Butterfly stamp, it's one of my favs :)
I stamped the image twice since I knew I'd be doing some layering.
I then colored in one whole butterfly and just the inner wing section of the other. I used Marvy and Sugarloaf Whispers markers to color. I haven't tried Copics yet. I'm positive that I will adore them and want them all. Unfortunately, I don't have the finances to back up my love :(Next I added some Glossy Accents to the inside wings and yellow Stickles to the whole butterfly.
I set them aside to dry and started working on my card front. I cut white card stock to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, and folded it in half with my bone folder. So my card front is 5 1/2 x 4 1/4. I started covering the front using my blending tool for Inkessentials and Vintage Photo distress ink.
I covered the whole card front.
I then inked up the Artists Butterfly stamp with Vintage Photo ink and randomly stamped, creating a background.
I added more Vintage Photo just aound the edges.
I cut a piece of white card stock to 2 inches and punched it with EK Success open scallop border punch on both sides.
I then cut another piece of white card to 1 1/4 and inked it with Mustard Seed distress ink. I apologize for the terrible photo :)
I then inked up my Hero Arts Flourish Background with mustard seed and stamped over the panel.
I wanted to add a trail for my butterfly. I'm not great at freehanding so I hunted through my stamp collection and found my Inkadinkado Gem Stone Jewels. I inked the flourish up with jet black archival ink from Ranger. and stamped onto the mustard piece.
I adhered the white border piece and the mustard panel to the card front.
I cut out the whole butterfly and the inner wings.
I adhered the inner wings on top of the whole butterfly with foam tape.
I glued the butterfly onto the card hiding the the large gem at the bottom. I only glued the middle so the wings would be popped up.
I added some bling to the butterfly trail.I stamped my sentiment with jet black archival ink. It is from Hero Arts Classic Messages
Finally, I stamped just the tail of the Inkadinkado flourish under the sentiment and added another gem.
